Many planning authorities require detailed surveys of existing trees
on application sites, often to B.S. 5837:2005 Trees In Relation
To Construction. Surveys to this standard can be provided for
developers, architects and landscape architects.

To accompany the tree survey there is often a need to draw up an arboricultural
implication study that brings the tree survey and land survey information
data together to present an overall picture of the site. It clearly
identifies which trees can be retained, which should or could be removed
together with options for new replacement planting. It is a valuable
document for identifying and rectifying points of potential conflict
before they arise and this in turn can help smooth the passage of a
planning application through the system.
