Practice Background

After training in Landscape Ecology, Design and Management at Wye College (University of London) I began my professional career in local government in the North East of England working on the management of newly planted landscape enhancement areas as part of a rolling programme of industrial reclamation across Tyneside and Wearside.

Following the break up of the former metropolitan counties I moved into the private sector and gained practical experience in landscape contracting as well as forestry and woodland management. In 1991 I moved to Norfolk to gain experience of the English planning system as a local authority tree and landscape officer.

In 1996 I concluded that it was time to pool this experience under one roof and the current practice was formed. Since then around 150 garden design commissions have been completed together with commercial landscape design projects and arboricultural surveys. Today an experienced and professional consultancy service is provided in the following fields:

• Tree Preservation Orders, trees and the law
• Tree Surveys to BS 5837 and Arboricultural Risk Assessment
